SUMMARY:Tuesday Morning Conversations: Speaking Christian\, by Marcus Borg
DESCRIPTION:Borg\, an internationally renowned Biblical scholar argues that Christianity’s important words\, and the sacred texts and stories in which those words are embedded\, have been narrowed by a modern framework for the faith. \nBorg delivers a language for twenty-first-century Christians that grounds the faith in its deep and rich original roots and allows it once again to transform our lives.  He states: “For many\, Christianity has become an unfamiliar language. . . Many people either do not know the words at all or\, if they have heard the words\, have no idea what they mean.  . .The faith is often misunderstood and distorted.” \nThese conversations take place at Nativity on Tuesday mornings from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM.  The conversations on this book will  begin on February 12 at 6:30 AM and lasts for an hour each week and will continue into the spring.  Some  participants are attend regularly\, others come when they can.  You are invited to come and see if this is for you. \nThe  book can be purchased at the Nativity Welcome desk.   \nFor more information contact Jerry Hoffman\, Pastor Emeritus\, jerjo.hoffman@gmail.com or call 763-443-3353

People of all ages can be affected by these challenges. \nFebruary 3: “How to Talk with Hearing Impaired People” Many people are challenged with hearing loss or have family members\, friends\, or co-workers who deal with this loss. Learn about the different types of hearing loss and how to better communicate. Presenter: Dr. Rolf Skogerboe\, Ear/Nose/Throat Surgeon. \nFebruary 10th: “Fraud Prevention\, Don’t be a Victim” Fight back with things you will learn from this informative presentation which will help you spot and identify: identity theft\, investment fraud\, credit card fraud\, cyber security and online safety. This presentation will include updates from law enforcement agencies and the IRS. Presenter\, Joan Palmquist\, a volunteer with AARP’s Fraud Watch Network\, an organization that educates communities. Joan has personally been targeted by scammers. \nFebruary 17th: “Become a Dementia Friend” Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think\, act\, and talk about dementia. Attend this session and learn: what dementia is\, what it’s like to live with the disease\, how dementia is different from ordinary memory “glitches\,” and  tips for communicating with people who have dementia. Also learn about Dementia Friends Minnesota.\nPresenter\, Nate Cannon who is the Dementia Education Awareness Coordinator at East Side Community Services\, NE Minneapolis. (Program is supported\, in part\, by a grant from the Minnesota Board on Aging.) \nFebruary 24th: “Circle of Hope” For 12 years\, Circle of Hope\, at Nativity Church\, has offered support to those who are caring for loved ones who have dementia and other chronic diseases.
