I’m celebrating seven years of service to Nativity Church this summer. According to our congregation’s practice, I will take a ten-week sabbatical. This means stepping away from my ministry responsibilities for a time of rest and spiritual renewal. My plan involves weekly hour-long sessions with a credentialed spiritual coach. That spiritual coach will help me find the right balance of time between contemplation and recreation during these ten weeks.
As pastors, we work all but a few weekends each year. This means that family time is frequently cut-short or even missed from week to week. The purpose of my two month sabbatical is to spend intentional time with my family and engage in enough spiritual reflection to deepen my reverence for these family relationships. The ultimate goal is to strengthen my resolve to find continued balance between my work-life and family-life as I continue to serve God’s church.
Thanks Nativity! Your generosity makes this experience possible.
