Youth at Nativity!

Middle School Ministry (Youth in 6th-8th Grade)

Middle school youth are shown the way to live as Christians in their everyday lives at Nativity through mentoring, small groups, service projects and relationship building.

Faith Formation for Youth

We introduce young people to the next step in their faith journey through Faith Formation for Youth (Confirmation). Faith Formation for Youth is a four-year program involving large group gatherings and small group time as well as service projects and involvement in Lutheran Social Service Sponsor-A-Family program. Families are asked to join their youth once a month in a learning experience. Groups meet on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. These classes culminate into Affirmation of Baptism in the fall of the 10th grade year.

Youth Retreats

Retreats are relationship time; with new friends, with old friends, with Christ. They are a change of scenery and a change of pace. Retreats take place at Luther Park in Danbury, Wisconsin. Check the Faith Formation Schedules for dates and times.

Summer Stretch

Summer Stretch is an opportunity for middle schoolers to make a difference in our community and meet Christ in a whole new way through service projects in the morning and fun in the afternoon. Summer Stretch runs on Wednesdays from June to August. Contact Pastor Carole Lundell for information.

Mission Trips

Youth completing grades 6 through 12 are invited to take part in the annual Youth Mission Trip. Nativity works with Youth Works in choosing a site appropriate for our group and the youth spend a week doing service (i.e. painting houses, presenting a Vacation Bible School, etc.) in impoverished areas in the United States. The youth also take part in fundraising through the year to cover at least a portion of the cost of the trip.

Mission Trip-2007
Nativity Lutheran Church brought 17 youth in grades 7th through 10th grade and 3 adults on a mission trip to Martin, South Dakota last year, July 8-14, 2007. The participants were not all members of Nativity.

After driving 9 hours to Martin in two large vans, the group worked with Youth Works to serve the community. They scraped and painted houses, helped with childcare at a park, and visited a nursing home. After this life changing experience, they took their time getting home, while visiting Mount Rushmore.

Check out how we shared our gifts and talents, growing in our faith and helping others.

Mission Trip-2008

The 2008 Mission Trip to Grand Junction, Colorado left Saturday, July 12 and returned July 20.

Senior High Ministry (Youth in 9th-12th Grade)

Senior high youth are encouraged to continue their faith journey through faith-building mission trips, 24 Hour Famine Event and other discipleship opportunities. They are encouraged to mentor children in Faith Formation classes, helping in Vacation Bible School and being part of the birth-3 year old ministry.

Nativity Youth In Action

Nativity Youth in Action is a youth group for youth in 6th-12th grades. Meetings on Wednesday include service projects, Bible studies, movies, hang-out night, fun adventures snowshoeing, bowling and sledding, going to Club 3 Degrees, Vertical Endeavors and much more. Check out the calendar of events as well as the new blog. For information contact Jessica L. or Becky Thorvig.

If you have any fundraiser or activity ideas for the youth, please contact Pastor Carole Lundell and we will see if we can make it happen.
