Welcome to Club 56!
Club 56 is a Faith Formation experience for 5th and 6th graders. During meeting time, students and small group leaders create “worship express,” and think through topics like “What do I do when the pressure’s on?” and “Why does God let bad things happen?” Students read the Book of Acts in graphic novel form (Manga Metamorphosis), play large group games and share a lunch prepared by parents. Club 56 meets on Sundays from 11:45am – 1:15pm.

Club 56 will begin with an orientation for parents and students on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 11:45am – 1:15pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will enjoy a potluck lunch – bring a dish to share. A Club 56 registration form and other information sheets are enclosed in this packet.

- There is a $65 suggested donation/materials fee for the year for the “Grapple” curriculum, the Manga Messiah book and lunches on dates when Club 56 has lunch – see calendar. More about lunches at orientation.
- Check the Club 56 calendar and note the meeting times and special events. You will hear more about these during orientation.
The Manga Messiah book we will be reading this year is a graphic/comic book adaptation of the life of Jesus from the four Gospels. Who is Jesus? What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus? At the end of the year the students keep the book.
Parents, please prayerfully reflect on how you can support Club 56 kids on their faith formation journey. We rely on parents and other adults to share their time and the gift of their presence throughout the year as small group leaders. Look at the Grapple curriculum outline for the fall and winter and consider if you would enjoy working through some of those questions with Club 56 kids. You don’t have to have the answers!
The meeting time for Club 56 was determined by our heavy building use on Sunday mornings during worship and Wednesday nights during Confirmation. Parents, you have a great opportunity now to worship regularly with your 5th or 6th grader. Remember, children worshipping with Dad and Mom is the biggest predictor that they will have an active faith life as adults.
