| Endowment Funds
Tribute gifts to the Nativity Lutheran Endowment Fund help advance the mission outreach of Nativity Lutheran Church apart from the general operation of the congregation. Through the investment of gifts and bequests, the endowment provides perpetual income to support educational, religious and charitable purposes supported by Nativity Church.
How
it works
You can make a gift or bequest to the Endowment Fund any time -- to
celebrate a special occasion, honor loved ones who have died or as
a part of effective estate planning. Contributions of all sizes are
important in supporting the growth of God's ministry. Your gift may
be designated for a specific purpose or you may also give an unrestricted
gift, a very valuable way to help Nativity carry out God's ministry.
All assets and income generated by the fund's investments are exclusively
devoted to religious, charitable or educational purposes endorsed
by Nativity Lutheran Church. The Endowment Fund is not operated for
private gain or personal profit. No portion of the income generated
by the fund shall be used for the annual operating budget of the congregation.
Ways
to give
Giving to the Nativity Endowment Fund is easy and can be beneficial
to the contributor. Each of the following types of giving has specific
charitable tax implications that can benefit estate planning:

- Gifts of
real estate
- Gifts by
will
How
funds are used
The Endowment Fund began in 1972 when Nativity received $250,000 from
the estate of Palmer Hermundslie. Grants
have been given to address many benevolent needs. Some recipients
include:
- Lutheran
Social Service of Minnesota
- Luther Theological
Seminary
- Sub-Saharan African Youth & Family Services
- Camp Penuel, Costa Rica
- Lutheran Aid to Medicine in Bangladesh (LAMB)
Grants
from the Endowment Fund have been used for:
- camperships
for inner city youth
- remodeling
assistance for a battered women's shelter
- schooling
children in Bangladesh
- a program providing medical needs and scholarships.
