Confirmation Ministry Purpose
Through Nativity's confirmation experience, students "confirm" the promises their parents made in faith at the time of their baptism. Our program is designed to help students better understand their relationship with God and how to keep these promises as a follower of Jesus Christ.
For the student:
Confirmation is a significant step in your faith journey. Every part of our confirmation program is designed to help you to develop a discipleship lifestyle that will help you continue to grow spiritually.
Confirmation is a volunteer program. We assume that by enrolling, students and families agree to the expectations outlined in this booklet.
This Looks Different
A confirmation task force has been looking at the confirmation program during the summer months and has made changes to curriculum, expectations, calendar and scope of the confirmation ministry. The result is a strong overall purpose and focus for years to come. The main goals are: relationship ministry, keys of discipleship and core competencies (things we want every confirmed student to know/experience about faith in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit). To see more about this check out the core competencies.
Parent Involvement
Parents are an integral part of confirmation ministries. Your leadership shows the importance of faith to your child. Parents are expected to help with the confirmation program at least ONCE throughout the year. The opportunities to serve are: leading/co-leading small groups*, substituting for a small group leader, providing transportation and/or snacks for an evening.
*Small group leader's main focus this year will be relationship building!
Important Stuff:
Bring your Bible - Bring your Bibles to Confirmation each night.
Weather Related Cancellations - Rarely does Nativity close for weather. Information about delayed or cancelled events will be left on the website and families will be contacted. Please make the best decision for your family.
Friends are Welcome - We are called to share the Gospel with our friends. If your friend doesn't have a church home or is interested in learning about God and Jesus, invite them to any of our Confirmation weekly gatherings. It's often nice to let your small group leader know in advance that you will be bringing a friend.
Financial Aid - Scholarships are available for those in need. Please contact Kristen for more information about scholarships.
