Prophets

The Prophets - Focus of Fall Tuesday Breakfast Class
"This book is about some of the most disturbing people who have ever lived: the men whose inspiration brought our Bible into being..."
- Abraham J. Herschel
Join us for conversation in our Tuesday Breakfast Class. Our wise guide into the Old Testament prophets - their lives and words - will be a poetic Jewish rabbi who makes the prophets and their words come alive. Passionate spirituality at its best! Contact Dr. Duane Addison at 763.574.9822 for information and for ordering the book.

A new book theme is planned for late February.

Wednesday AM Bible Study
If you are looking for a group that gathers year-round for prayer and the study and discussion of scripture, this group meets Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Class is led by Marilyn Eberlein. The current study is Psalms For Life.

Psalms For Life
We all know that the Psalms contain comfort for each of us for those lonely, sad and trying times in our lives. But when things happen to You - where do you look to find that comfort?

Marva Dawn experienced that same feeling in her own life and so she set out to find those particular Psalms that spoke to her in her loneliness. My Soul Waits: Solace For the Lonely in the Psalms will be the summer Bible study that meets Wednesday mornings in the lower Fellowship Hall.

Special Advent Study of Angels
Since Angels play such a prominent role in the traditional Nativity story that we celebrate each Advent season, a three week study will be offered on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the Lower Fellowship Hall beginning Dec. 3. The Old Testament accounts of Angel appearances help us to understand the acceptance of Angel appearances in the Nativity story as a sign of God's direct involvement in the unusual events that were occurring.

Word to the Wise Bible Study
A Study of Matthews: The Christian Torah Starts September 4, 2008
Book discussions, movies and Bible study are the format for this group that meets Thursdays, September through May from 9:00-11:30 a.m. and led by Marilyn Eberlein. Books/topics are chosen by the group. Each of the four Gospel writers had an agenda when they told their story of Jesus' life and ministry. Matthew wished to show Jesus as the Messiah that fulfilled all the expectations of the Jews of that time - and so it is sometimes referred to as the Christian Torah. Join the study and discussion of this special Gospel as it relates the story of Jesus' life from birth to death. The class meets every Thursday in Room 218.

Adult Book and Bible Study
This book and Bible study meets every other Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A book or Bible study is chosen by the group. Contact Sherry Truchinski for information.
